We are looking for a "Construction Project Manager” to join our internationally growing organization who will be based in Metropolitan Real Estate PLC ETHIOPIA ADDIS ABABA Office.

Who will lead and manage the development of all our projects, namely greenfield, brownfield, extensions and re-fits from concept and project initiation through to handover to the client. Will be responsible for overseeing multiple projects simultaneously and serving as the worksite representative for dealings with subcontractors, suppliers, customers, and government inspectors. The construction project manager will ensure compliance with all national and local procedures, regulations, and codes, and will provide progress updates to appropriate management channels on a regular basis.

QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Years of Experience:

• More than 10 years of experience in construction project management
• Must have 5 years residential building construction experience

Level of Education:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for the successful delivery of all projects, extensions, and re-fits in respect of time schedule, budget, health & safety standards and according to the defined quality and International standards.
• Develop relationship with external consultants and contractors.
• Liaise, lead, and direct internal and external project teams and partners.
• Communicate and report the progress of the projects as well as identify risks and mitigation strategies.
• Develop and implement a commercial and procurement strategy for the pipeline of construction projects, quantity surveying, preparing and managing tender processes, drafting tender evaluation and selection recommendations, and ensuring that all contracts are effectively negotiated and commercially managed in conjunction.
• Work directly with Management Team to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure all aspects of each project are compatible.
• Maintaining a clear picture of outturn cost in accordance with the standard framework, by ensuring monthly cost reports, fully and accurately reflect all contracts, change, risks, opportunities, and variation orders and reporting to Management.
• To supervise and ensure that all construction site activities and assembly works are carried out in accordance with international standards, contract annexes and specifications, in accordance with approved detail, assembly instructions and layouts.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other specialists; hire full-time and part-time subcontractors and laborers and coordinate their schedules
• Visit sites regularly during construction — including bid walks, pre-construction walks, in-progress visits, punch walks, and closeouts — and attend status and coordination meetings
• Conduct and document quality assurance and safety inspections throughout the construction process, ensuring that the work environment is acceptable and that tools and equipment are in good working condition

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Good command of English both written and spoken,
• Project management experience within the construction industry at international standards,
• High material, detail, system and installation knowledge,
• Experienced in planning, reporting and progress payment reports,
• Experienced in Site, Organization and Technical Staff management,
• IT literate, advance (AutoCAD) knowledge and project management software (Microsoft project).
• International experience across different cultures and their working practices is preferred.
