QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION

Koç University Communications Directorate will be hiring apart-time Videographer.

The videographer is passionate about using videography to tell compelling stories. The person in this role is responsible for improving visual storytelling at the university, capturing creative, high-quality video for a variety of platforms, including: web, email, social media, events, and other venues.

The university videographer will thrive on collaboration and enjoy finding opportunities to work creatively with teammates in the Communications Office and other departments.

 This position is responsible for producing high-quality video content for a wide range of university mediums that reflect the university’s visual identity.

 Responsibilities:

• This position is responsible for all stages of production, including: planning, scheduling, directing, shooting, staging, and editing productions. Also maintaining equipment and managing archived files.
• Taking briefs to understand specifications and working with the communications team to develop concepts
• Plan videos and storyboard content according to the briefs
• Schedule videoshoots, set timelines and coordinate with a variety of subjects
• Determine desired video composition
• Perform interviews or preliminary research and adjust content to achieve desired effect
• Brainstorm and execute videos that elevate the university brand, such as student and faculty success stories, fundraising videos, videos for key university events, alumni features, and more
• Operate video cameras and make technical decisions regarding appropriate lighting, shooting angels, placements, sound, etc.
• Capture high-quality, candid/action video
• Film speeches and campus messages for university leadership and other stakeholders
• Document campus life on a daily basis, being alert and ready to capture unplanned multimedia storytelling opportunities
• Edit and assemble final visual/audio material, ensuring brand consistency across all productions
• Produce a variety of video (short-form and long-form) for various platforms, such as websites, social media, email newsletters, events, etc.
• Keep video files organized
• Maintain video equipment
• Collect and maintain signatures for video model release forms
• Keep abreast on videography best practices and take part in training opportunities

 Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in photography, film studies, cinematography, or related field
• 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience is preferred. Fewer years of experience may be acceptable with a strong video portfolio or showreel demonstrating exceptional talent.
• Hands-on experience with editing software
• Creative and artistic skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with a variety of stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, senior leaders.
• Must have the ability to receive and interpret feedback, and to share expertise and perspective, in a collaborative, productive manner.
