Arup is one of the world's top engineering and consultancy firms. We are seeking a Senior Transport Planner for our Istanbul and Ankara Offices to strengthen our Transport Team for local and international projects. The desired qualifications for candidates are specified below:

JOB DESCRIPTION 

Working within a multi-disciplinary team in the context of the preparation of transport studies, this role is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Transport Planner with an interest and experience on sustainable transport. 

He/she will be responsible for studies and/or project management of transport projects.  

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

• Take project ownership 

• Work in a multi-disciplinary and international team tasked with delivering transport planning studies. 

• Assist with organization of meetings and general coordination of technical team 

• Identify and understand client’s needs according to the technical specifications 

• Check the conformity of the studies to the contracts. 

• Ability to work autonomously and proactively; 

• A demonstrable desire to continually expand on their knowledge base; 

• A collaborative style of working that fosters innovation and team working; 

• Be driven and motivated to work in a commercial consulting environment, usually to tight client deadlines; 

• An organized and methodological approach to problem-solving and decision-making with proven problem-solving experience; 

• A good understanding of the latest and emerging Transport Engineering technologies regulations and standards

QUALIFICATIONS  

A successful candidate should have: 

• Bachelor and/or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Urban Planning from reputable universities 

• At least 10 years of Demonstrated Transport Planning experience in any of transport policy and strategy development, traffic impact assessments, transport masterplans, capacity studies (road and/or rail), business case appraisals 

• Excellent command of English both written and verbal is a must. Candidate should be able to communicate and write reports in English. 

• Ability to prepare and present factual reports; 

Desirable Skills and Knowledge: 

• Broad experience of different working contexts, both geographical, cultural and working environments; 

• Experience of working with public, as well as private stakeholders; 

• Specifying and overseeing data analysis including surveys 

• Knowledge of transport modelling related software packages (e.g. Aimsun, Vissim/VISUM, MATSim) as well as knowledge and experience of GIS software is highly desirable; 

• Preferable knowledge and experience in computer programming languages (e.g. Python, R)
